Introduction to Renko Charts: Tutorial
We explore the functionality and benefits of Renko charts on TradingView, a unique charting method that filters out noise and focuses solely on significant price movements. Renko charts are distinct for plotting bricks (boxes) of a specified size regardless of time, making them ideal for traders seeking clear trend identification and reduced market noise.
Brick Size: We explain how traders set the brick size parameter, which determines the minimum price movement required to add a new brick. This customization helps in adapting the chart to different asset volatilities and trading strategies.
Trend Identification: Demonstrating how Renko charts help traders identify trends more clearly by removing minor price fluctuations, focusing solely on price changes that meet the brick size criterion.
Long-Term Perspective: Highlighting the suitability of Renko charts for long-term analysis, as they effectively filter out market noise and emphasize sustained price trends over extended periods.
Understanding Renko charts is essential for traders looking to simplify their technical analysis and focus on significant price movements.

    I was bored today so I asked an AI to create an indicator that could find a stock with 80% or greater probability of moving up 50% or more in less than three trading days*. I went on to tell the AI that I live in a universe where everything is possible so writing such an indicator was possible and the AI was at no risk by in giving it a go LOL. I stated that because I always get reservation statements from AI's when I throw out a new indicator idea. Go figure, a timid AI. So it gave it a go and this is what came out. I am not a member of TradingView at the moment and I'm about as smart as a rock when it comes to coding, pine or otherwise. I tried to plug it in to the Pine Editor and got an error. I have no clue what the problem was/is. Anyone want to give it a go in TradingView Pine Editor and see what comes out on a chart? *I set it at three days to clear the now T=1 settlement rule with ease while trying to get in and get out of a great trade within the week. If you would post a response if it works out I would appreciate it. I'd like to give it a go on a few stocks I suspect might be candidates. //@version=5 indicator("80% Probability Upside Indicator", shorttitle="80% Up") // Define the input parameters length = input(14) // Length of the lookback period factor = input(1.5) // Multiplier for the standard deviation calculation // Calculate the daily returns var float[] returns = cluster_return(close, length) // Calculate the average daily return over the lookback period avgReturn = mean(returns) // Calculate the standard deviation of daily returns over the lookback period stdDev = stdev(returns) // Calculate the Z-score using the average and standard deviation zScore = (close - avgReturn) / stdDev * factor // Define the threshold for the probability of a 50% increase in under 3 days threshold = zScore * 2 // Calculate the probability of a 50% increase in under 3 days based on the Z-score probability = norm.cdf(zScore, threshold) // Plot the indicator as a histogram with color-coded values barcolor(probability > 0.8 ? color.green : color.red) // Plot the z-score as a line chart plot(zScore, "Z-Score", color=color.blue) // Plot the probability as a line chart plot(probability, "Probability", color=color.red) // Define a notification function to alert when the probability exceeds 80% alertcondition(probability > 0.8, "80% Probability Upside", "Probability exceeds 80%")

    WTF they stole my CVD indicator I made 5 years ago and didn't even give me credit. You're not even respecting your own House rules, nor the license that should oblige you to give me credit as the original author. If you guys have any question don't ask tradingview, ask ME, as i'm the one who created that script. They could've asked me 5 years ago to make the script adapted to a broader audience and you guys would've gotten it 5 years ago...

      @Yukiioz 14 годин тому

      And as I said in my script, it's not a real CVD since we don't have the separate Bid/Ask volume. That's also why my indicator is called "Not really a CVD", because you cannot make one on tradingview. So calling it a CVD is pure lie...

    hello I have noticed an inaccuracy with the replay mode. When I enter trades, I set a take profit and stop loss set a take profit for a certain price, but in the replay mode, the stop loss/TP, does not execute on the price I set but on the high or low of the replay bar. This creates an inaccurate profit and loss calculation. Can you please look into this and also add more detailed performance analysis? Thank you.

    3:00 "These renko bars are not created by time; time is essentially irrelevant" Ehh, partly true. In order for renko bars to go from projecting to printed, it is tied to the timeframe you have selected, so time frame selection for your style of trading is important and very much relevant to trading with this type of chart (i.e., HFT, scalp, day or swing). I get that this is an introductory video to renko charts but one thing of major importance not mentioned in the video is how the *projection of these bars* look whilst being formed (can only see this happening in forward testing, not in back testing) For instance, you can be waiting for a retracement or reversal to occur to enter a trade only for you to be late to the party by 3, 4 or more bricks because one of the purposes of renko is not to get psyched out or whipsawed by price action swings. So its not uncommon to see 3 projected bricks going in your intended direction, you enter, only to see them disappear and now you're trapped when it goes the opposite way. Conversely, discipline and experience then teaches you to wait for the bricks to finally print and when they do, you find yourself with a crappy entry, again, 3, 4 or more bricks later. I think renko is good for ease of identifying S/R and S/D levels as well as developing trend bias, but is incredibly inefficient to use for entering trades.

(something TV said they were working on 2 years ago and still have not implemented) all these videos about how to trade options on TV are very misleading because you CANT. all you can do is formulate the game plan which I can do in my own charts with no additional cost. ☹

    your percentagte based renko chart are highly inaccurate when you look at the larger data...example only accurate for 1 % that too price action in couple of months .... your issue is with the calculation which you are doing , you are calculating percentage change with Current traded price and imposing it on its historical chart but it shouldnt be like this ..actually you have to freeze price on daily closing as refrence than calculate percentage on that and keep previously printed bricks as it is ....if you want to copy the functioning of noiseless charts can do from Rzone by define edge securities there charts are highly accurate when it comes to renko , point n figure ..i realy would like to see those charts on your platform ....

  • @Cr7pt0r
    @Cr7pt0r 4 дні тому

    to really make it work tradingview would need to support ticks... renko aren't supposed to take time into consideration but tradingview implementation has a compromise for not supporting ticks... it projects bricks and commits then after the timeframe of the chart (for instance in the example one day) has passed if those bricks are above/below the brick size threshold... this is a deviation from classic renko because in a classic settings the projected bricks are actually bricks that should be painted and committed in the chart.... The reason why the brick projection is a problem is because when you analyze the market after the fact all the projected bricks disappears (they are phantom bricks) and you can't really study good strategies or how to create an intuition for the market movement... all your strategies studies using past market data would be flawed because you wouldn't be able to understand if the market moved to your stop loss/take profit or not. For example lets say you are using Renko charts in tradingview and the each brick size is 10 dollars... the chart is configured to 1minute timeframe... let's say the time starts now and the price at 30seconds went above the original price 30 dollars and at 60 seconds it came back to the original price. In the tradingview renko implementation there would be just one brick in the chart since tradingview only commits bricks to the chart after the timeframe has passed (due to not supporting ticks). As you can see this is a huge limitation because if the price went above the original price 30 dollars the chart should have committed 3 additional bricks upwards and then 3 bricks downwards at 60 seconds - that's how properly implemented Renko works.
